We try to answer your most frequently asked questions here.
These answers are given, whenever possible, by experts in each
field. For example, counseling/relationship questions are answered
by the Pastors. Financial questions are answered by a CMA, and so
on. If you would like to ask a question, please check out our Contact
Page.
Why is CWC different than any other church?
In many ways! Arrive a few minutes early and you might grab a coffee
from the coffee bar out front. Or, you might want to ask a question
during the message, which will always be answered on the spot if
possible. Or perhaps you have children, so you might want to let
them join the other kids during the singing as they wave flags and
dance. At CWC, we have tried to keep the best of the old, while
allowing a new freedom and liberty into the meeting. You decide
if we have succeeded. During the service, you may feel that you
want to share with everyone how knowing God is important to you.
There will be an invitation for you to do that!
Speaking of children, what about my young ones? What keeps them
from getting bored (and you know what happens when kids get bored)?
We encourage all families to participate together in the singing
time. The music is upbeat so kids usually really enjoy it. Afterwards,
we have trained teams that share the responsibility of hosting a
"Kidz Church" while the adults consider the message. We
always supply 'goodies', so please let us know if your kids have
any special diet restrictions.
Message. Isn't that a euphemism for "sermon" and therefore
...prepare me to get bored!
Nope...we don't usually have 'sermons'. We practice an "Open
Church" which means that everyone is encouraged to hear from
God and then share what God is don't in their own lives. At CWC,
we focus on real life issues and their solutions. Usually, people
are challenged to address their own lives and rise to a greater
experience of life!
What kind of people attend CWC?
We have a wonderful range of folks from the very young to the 'age-challenged'
Presently, our demographics include 40% under twenty-five years
old, a number of families, a few singles and a few retired folks.
We are, like our city, primarily middle class, but not exclusively.
No matter what you social or cultural background, you will find
CWC a comfortable place to be part of.
What programs do you offer?
Because we are 'new', we decided to focus our attention on people,
rather than programs. As a result of this emphasis, we offer a Sunday
morning meeting, small groups during the week, Youth group and,
for those who are interested, an accredited weekly Bible College
that will allow you to obtain an Associate Degree.
How can I get involved?
Involvement at CWC is your choice. We are a permission giving church,
so whatever your passion is, that's what we want you to do. We do
have one criteria...it must fit with our 'DNA'; who we are and why
we do what we do matters most.
What about Small Groups?
Joining a small group is critical to developing relationships
that matter. These groups are one hour house churches, offered once
a week and in a way for you to connect with your neighbors. Other
small groups in the church are purpose-driven, such as our Worship
team, and our Youth.
What about counseling and dealing with 'real' problems?
CWC does offer limited pastoral counseling, but we are privileged
to have a partnering relationship with a qualified and expert counselor.
